Results

Had our egg retrieval yesterday. They didn't retrieve as many as I would have liked, I was hoping for around 12, but I'm not going to feel bad about that. They retrieved 9 eggs, 8 of them were mature and 6 have fertilized so far. Tomorrow is Day 2, we'll get another update on how they are growing and learn more if we will be doing a Day 3 or 5 transfer...I'm hoping for a Day 5!

Some Stuff You Should Know

My husband and I are going on 3 1/2 years of infertility. We've been poked, prodded, invaded, and tested for every possible thing and the doctors have found that I have PCOS and he has a lower sperm count and balanced translocation chromosome...none of which the doctor said should stop us from having children. Which I believe is true. We will have children. We've done numerous natural cycles with clomid, follistim, and HCG. A year ago we spent the money we were saving for a car and did IVF which was unsuccessful.

Recently, we finished 6 cycles of IUI's. We decided to try IUI's for a while, mostly because my husband is in the military and the current base we are stationed at has a infertility specialist (which is very rare) and she can do IUI's at no cost to us...which is an incredible blessing. The doc says our best chance at having children is doing IVF, so that is where we are now. Gearing up to do our 2nd IVF cycle in October. Here we are with one car, 4 years in, a bunch of negative pregnancy tests, and no children...but despite all that we are hopeful.
